Plastic chemical recycling
In January of this year we started TAČR project dedicated to the chemical recycling of waste plastics.
In “PE2SURF” project solved in cooperation with the company RANIDO s.r.o., we are aiming to produce surfactants from waste plastics.
On Thursday, July 10, we traveled to Slovakia to Nové Město nad Váhom. At the company Leitner s.r.o., we conducted the first experiments on the pyrolysis unit (see photo) of Enress s.r.o. Our goal was to learn about the local technology to optimize the pyrolysis process and achieve the desired properties, thereby maximizing the yield of the liquid product (pyrolysis oil).
As part of the pilot pyrolysis campaign, up to 50% of pyrolysis oil was produced from the unsorted residue from the yellow bin. Thanks to the innovative solution from Enress s.r.o., we can more easily aim to maximize the yield of low-boiling oil and the degree of dechlorination. As part of this newly established cooperation, it is possible to move toward the gradual implementation of chemical recycling of waste plastics. If you are interested in the topic of recycling and waste recovery, do not hesitate to contact us or visit us directly in our laboratories A-J05. We are looking for students at all levels of study, including doctoral students, with the possibility of conducting research internships and final theses.
