Who we are

We are a research team focused on the development of sustainable technologies for waste valorization, chemical recycling, and the production of alternative feedstocks for the production of chemicals or alternative fuels. Our work is driven by the need to develop efficient solutions for converting complex waste streams into valuable products while reducing dependence on fossil resources.

A major focus of our research is the thermal and catalytic conversion of waste materials, particularly waste plastics and other carbon-rich feedstocks like tires and biomass. We investigate processes such as pyrolysis and the subsequent upgrading of oils from thermochemical processes, aiming to improve their quality, stability, and suitability for further valorization. By combining chemical engineering, catalysis, and advanced analytical chemistry, we aim to understand the complex transformations occurring during these processes and identify pathways to higher-value products.

We place strong emphasis on the detailed characterization of raw materials, intermediates, and final products. Understanding the chemical composition and properties of complex mixtures is essential for optimizing conversion processes and assessing their potential applications. Our research therefore combines experimental process development with advanced, comprehensive analysis of resulting products to establish relationships between feedstock composition, process conditions, and product quality.

Through our research, we aim to advance circular, resource-efficient chemical processes in which waste is no longer seen solely as a disposal problem but as a potential source of valuable raw materials. We work at the interface of fundamental research and industrial application, with the long-term goal of supporting the transition to sustainable chemical and alternative-fuel production.
