The second campaign of pyrolysis experiments
At the end of April, Miloš and Vítek went to Nové Město nad Váhom in Slovakia to realize the second pyrolysis campaign. Here, we carried out another series of experiments on the pyrolysis unit of Enress a.s. company. We carried out the experiments as part of the ongoing project PE2SURF (TAČR Sigma DC2, TQ15000068), implemented in collaboration with RANIDO s.r.o., which aims to produce surfactants from waste plastics.
After modifying the pyrolysis reactor, we tested its functionality. The main goal was to demonstrate that the modified setup allows us to produce pyrolysis oil characterized by a lower final boiling point. We successfully demonstrated that we can produce oil of better quality without excessive overcracking to gas products (see the attached photo). We still have a lot of work ahead, particularly in improving process control to reach steady-state operation, but we are on the right track.
