Hydrogen generator for GC×GC installed in our lab

We are happy to announce that an electrolyzer from LNI Swissgas for hydrogen carrier gas generation has been installed in our laboratory. This instrument is a crucial step toward transitioning from helium carrier gas to hydrogen in our GC×GC-FID/MS system. Replacing fossil, costly helium with hydrogen generated by water electrolysis moves us toward more sustainable laboratory practice.

This investment won’t be possible without funding from an RSC Sustainable Laboratory Grant we received for the related ongoing research.

In addition, we recently extended our GCxGC with an autosampler tray that can accommodate up to 150 vials. We can now run longer weekend sequences without replacing vials in the autosampler.
